Coral Plascencia, Solid Waste Aid 1 in our Public Works Department, is a sunshine daydream come true. She works hard every day to protect our community and environment, and when our team needs a dose of positive morale, we turn to Coral.
You ever have that urge to brighten everything up? Take a can of canary yellow paint and go wild or wear a vibrant outfit to break the daily routine? We're lucky here at the City because when we need a splash of color in our sometimes monotonous grooves, for a daily dose of morale, we turn to Coral.
As a Solid Waste Aide 1 in our Public Works division, Coral brings joy and exuberance to her work every day with her infectious smile and her genuine care for colleagues. An integral team member for the past 11 years, she is passionate about waste reduction and her role is crucial to the health of our community and planet. Coral facilitates our residential and commercial recycling audits as well as our commercial organics auditing process. She ensures that everything is in its right place, preventing contamination, and supports our customers with the upkeep of their receptacles while providing training and maintaining pickup schedules. Coral also supports our Waste and Recycling Center drop off location at 320 Harvest Drive where she'll oversee traffic control and public safety and even drives a forklift on occasion! She is ever-supportive, hopping in on the front lines with our Customer Service staff, providing helpful answers for our customers with a positive attitude and smile.
You'll often find Coral planning celebratory meals for coworkers and taking lead on special event preparation. She loves to cook for her friends and family and finds joy in lending a helping hand to anyone who needs it.
"I love meeting different people out in the field and knowing that I am making a difference in my community. I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunities my division provides me to learn new things every day."
In her free time she enjoys riding horses with her husband, the love of her life, cooking for her children and chaperoning school events, and volunteering at the Salvation Army. What a catch!
If we are feeling gray or blue, a day with Coral changes our hue. Join us in saying thank you to Coral!
