Public Works Profiles - Being Fab in the Lab

The verdict is in. Angie Avidano, Public Works Water Quality Lab Technician, is just fabulous both in and out of the City of Watsonville's Water Lab and everyone knows it, even the ducks.

Public Works Profiles - Being Fab in the Lab

Meet Angie Avidano. Angie is part of a team responsible for testing water both throughout Watsonville's watershed, and in the City's various facilities, including the wastewater treatment plant. She's part of a smart, swift, and efficient crew that works together like a well-oiled machine, which is good considering they are responsible for monitoring various aspects of the quality of the environment on which we all depend. Angie is not one to brag, she just keeps on keeping on, doing her thing, and is always genuinely flattered when anyone takes notice of her complete and total awesomeness. So we are putting her front and center!

Angie enjoys the fact that her job is diverse and allows her to change up the scenery depending on sampling location. She's always down to lend a helping hand, and is currently supporting a community project assessing hot spot trash regions in Watsonville to help strategize long-term solutions. What keeps her smiling day to day? "I am able to utilize my skills and be part of a team that truly cares about the work they do."

A few minutes chatting with Angie and her commitment is totally obvious, she's playing for keeps. In her spare time, she takes every opportunity she can to be outdoors and she loves animals as though they are people. She works hard and plays harder on her weekends, running, adventuring, hiking the Sierras, and finding new places to explore with her dogs. If she decides to keep it mellow, she's volunteering at Pet Friends and Rescue, surrounding herself with as many furbabies as humanly possible, constantly extending her care to the more than human world. For real, creatures flock to her.

Thank you magical Angie, from all of us animals, for all that you do to make Watsonville a better place.
