Airport Freedom Trunk Sewer Replacement

The project consists of installation of 2,790 LF of 18-inch sanitary sewer line in new alignment via open cut installation methods, upsizing 830 LF of 18-inch diameter pipe to 21-inch and upsizing 2,500 LF of 10-inch diameter pipe to 15-inch and 18-inch using either pipe bursting or open cut trenching method, constructing new manholes, connecting sanitary sewer laterals and other associated work, together with the miscellaneous items of work indicated on the Contract Documents.

Request for Proposals (RFP) from consulting engineering firms for design phase services shall be submitted by 4:00 p.m., July 19, 2019.

Construction Projects

The Engineering Division is responsible for public works construction projects for the city. These projects include new construction, improvements and renovations of public buildings, parks and recreation facilities, streets, traffic signals, street lights, wastewater collection system, water systems and storm systems. Public Works improvement projects in excess of $175,000 are subject to formal competitive sealed bidding.

New Public Works Contractor Registration Law (Sb854)

Beginning 2015-04-01, the City of Watsonville may only award public works projects to contractors and subcontractors that comply with the new Public Works Contractor Registration Law (SB 854). More information is available at the following links:

Contractors doing public works projects must register and meet requirements using the online application before bidding on public works contracts in California. The application also provides agencies that administer public works programs with a searchable database of qualified contractors.

Bid Information

The City of Watsonville uses eBidboard, a web-based bid management service, as an electronic plan room. Potential contractors, subcontractors and suppliers may view current projects, register as plan holders, view the plan holders list, download plans and specifications, receive addendum notices and obtain bid results. This information is available free of charge.
