The City of Watsonville will be holding its General Municipal Election on November 3, 2020, to fill the vacancies in Districts 1, 2, & 6.

Early Voting Available Starting October 5, 2020!


The City of Watsonville will be offering early voting for Santa Cruz County Residents beginning October 5 through November 3, 2020, and will be open for voting on Election Day on November 3, 2020.

The City Clerk's Office serves as a Voting Center and can issue ballots for registered voters. You may vote at:

City Council Candidates

The purpose of the election is to fill three (3) expiring seats for Districts 1, 2, and 6 on the Watsonville City Council, each for a full four-year term.


Due to current shelter in place orders, City facilities are not open to the public. Please contact the City Clerk's Office by email or by phone to schedule an appointment to pull nomination papers or to get information.

In order to run for office, a candidate must have been a resident and a legally registered voter in of the City of Watsonville and of the district they wish to run for at least 30 days before the nomination period opens. The nomination period opens on Monday, July 13 and closes on Friday, August 7, 2020. Filing deadlines are established by State law and must be adhered to.

Please note that if an incumbent for the office of Councilmember, eligible for re-election, does not file a declaration of candidacy by August 7, there will be a five-day extension allowed for any person other than the incumbent to file a declaration of candidacy for such office. If required, the extended filing period for non-incumbent candidates for either office would end Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

Candidates' statements are available for public examination for 10 calendar days immediately following the filing deadline for submission of those documents. During this period, any voter of the appropriate City District, or the elections official, may seek a writ of mandate or an injunction requiring any or all of the material in the statement to be amended or deleted.
